Emotionally, working with the children at The Mulberry Bush is much more than just a job. To be alongside these children and the challenges they face takes determination, patience and resilience but the rewards are immeasurable. The relationships you build and the memories you make with them and the times you share together really makes a difference to their futures – not many jobs can say that.

I came to The Mulberry Bush School as an agency worker and never left! I had never planned to work with this age group of children however I was really keen to learn. I have been learning every day since. Each day is different and brings new challenges. One of the best things at The Mulberry Bush is the support that is given in many different ways. We work as a team and every problem is challenged as a team. I have always been encouraged to bring new ideas to the school.

The health and wellbeing of our staff matters to us. We recognise that our work can be rewarding, complex and emotionally demanding, so all Mulberry Bush staff have access to practical resources that support their physical and mental wellbeing.

Through Simply Health, staff can also access everyday healthcare and wellbeing support, including money back towards dental, optical and physiotherapy costs, online GP appointments, mental health support, life advice and digital muscle and joint assessments. Services and claim limits are subject to the terms of the Mulberry Bush plan.

Staff are encouraged and rewarded for introducing anybody they feel could make a difference at The Mulberry Bush.

Yes. Save 26-40% on a new bike for work. Tax is complicated; the cycle to work scheme is not. You choose a bike, hire it for an agreed length of time, then wind its value down to a negligible amount. It’s like a year-round sale, with interest free credit available in over 2,000 retailers.

All staff are entitled to an annual free flu vaccination.

Yes. The Blue Light Card provides those in the NHS, emergency services, social care sector and armed forces with a range of discounts from large national retailers to local businesses, across categories including groceries, holidays, cars, days out, fashion, gifts, insurance and phones.

The Mulberry Bush qualifies for the Blue Light Card and app. It is based upon individuals taking out personal membership. Two years’ access to the online and high street discounts costs a fee of £4.99.

To register, visit the Blue Light Card registration page. To create an account you are asked for your ID or a recent payslip – we would recommend your payslip. You are asked to select the service sector in which you are employed – choose Social Care from the drop-down list. On the next page you are asked to select a trust from another drop-down list – choose Residential Care. You will then be asked to provide your personal details and home address. On the next page you will be asked for the company name, and you will need to upload your recent payslip.

It will take up to one week for your application to be approved.
